As the fall semester begins for our local college students, we want to highlight all the easy, nutritious foods that are available at the market that could be kept in a dorm or off-campus housing. We have focused on affordable and fast options that are easy for the student on-the-go to prepare and eat.

Essential Market Shopping List:

Eggs

Broccoli

Carrots

Cucumbers

Onions

Garlic

Celery

Potatoes

Milk

Leafy greens – lettuce, kale, spinach

Tomatoes

Bread

Apples

Seasonal Berries – Strawberries, Blueberries

Chicken Breast

Hummus

Combine the above items with other essentials that you pick up at the grocery store like rice, quinoa/other grains, beans, tortillas/wraps, soups/Ramen, and oils/vinegars for easy meals.

For example, take a simple packet of Ramen and add in onion, carrots, and broccoli. One almost done cooking, crack an egg in the pan and cover with the noodles. Top with Sriracha. Even though I have been out of college for many years, this meal still hits the spot!
